New UICentral Dev Progress Update

I wanted to give everyone a heads-up on the UICentral development. First of all we are runing behind schedule for a few reasons and secondly the next version will not be going by the name of UICentral :)

We had aimed to get the new version out by the next patch but that is looking unlikely following today's events. Our developer has to go into hospital for 2 weeks for an urgent operation, which means things are going to be delayed.

Why is it taking so long you ask? Well we are recoding it from the ground-up and all development is being done in-house this time round, which means we have more control over what is going on with the application, and we can also add features quicker once they are requested by the community.

We know people have been asking when the new version would arrive, but there have been numerous set-backs beyond our control.

It is coming, and we plan to get it out there as quickly as we can.|||Good news!|||sweet news mate, give the dev guy my regards.|||Well its about time you posted some news about this... looking back, abandoning the good old UICentral for that java crap was just a bad move..

Nowdays many of the mod authors have already moved away from wowui (mainly cos of site issues in the past) and most users use every other updater out there like wowmatrix for example. You had one unique all-in-one tool that allowed to see news, chat, download/upload mods, see the featured mods, share/save/manage macros, hell you could even change the skins of the thing!... and now we have squat.

To this day I miss the old UICentral 3, I can only hope this new updater gets close to it, cos if not, I'll stick around with Matrix and the sites "Alerts" thing.

Just one more thing, if you cant release at least a beta (or alpha) of it before patch 3.0.2 then you will just lose yet another opportunity to test things out for the expansion.. everyone knows there will be bugs, and if that crap java had so many, I can only imagine the amount of testing required to put this one to work, and you know that the "I-use-the-wowui-updater" community is not as big as before to test it.

Oh and in the meanwile, let UICentral connect to the server already!, not the we-will-sue-your-ass java crap, but the v3 one witch was working just fine.

(bahh....)|||Agreed. UIC 3 was ok but it did have flaws. We will get this out as soon as possible :)|||Any news for sorting this forum out?|||Will the new program have banner ads?|||Quote:

Will the new program have banner ads?

humm interesting question.. if for one hand no one likes them, on the other hand its better then having to pay for a better service like before.. Oh and if it does have add's one can always Ad-Munch then ;) (Mooooooooooo)

I think that as long as it doesn't have gold selling ads thats not a big deal imo|||It won't have gold selling adverts or anything else against Blizzard rules. I would say it will almost certainly feature adverts of some kind since it pays for the bandwidth.|||Thanks for the update Rushster
